New Jaguar XJ Delayed
The new Jaguar XJ, originally scheduled to be launched in December 2009 has been pushed back to arriving at dealers April 2010, with rumours that it may be delayed further being strenuously denied by executives at Jaguar UK.
The initial postponement of the launch has reportedly been caused by the laudable desire from Jaguar UK to make sure the car is 100% right when first deliveries start. The technical problems have seemed to stem from the increasingly complex electrical system, with software glitches being tricky to track down.
The dual-view display screen is rumoured to be head culprit, which has caused issues in the newly face-lifted Range Rover, and Jaguar are keen to make sure these are all resolved before the first customers receive their gorgeous new cars, after a spate of electrical gremlins plagued early versions of the XK when it was first launched in 2006, something which the manufacturer is keen not to repeat.
We think that this is a great step for Jaguar to take, and we would rather see Jaguar enhancing its fantastic reputation for quality still further with this stunning new car, rather than going for the easy money by launching less than perfect cars a few months to early.

Tata Motors Ltd. released its plans to have Jaguar in the upmarket veering away from plans of the previous owner, Ford Motor Co., to increase volume. Tata is inclined to produce a derivative of the XF but is not going for an SUV.
According to dealers who met with Tata top executives, Jaguar is lining up production of three new cars. This may include an XF sedan, which may come as a roadster and coupe, a sports car, and a luxury car. Details about the design or engineering of the vehicles were not revealed.
An SUV development was warded off by Jaguar since one will compete with the brand Land Rover which is also owned by Ratan Tata. The SUV also doesn’t fit the overall picture that the new owner has envisioned for Jaguar, to move up in the luxury car market place.
The roadster being developed by Jaguar will be positioned behind the line of XK that has a sticker of approximately $79000. The car will be shorter than the XK. It is primarily targeting the market of Porsche 911, BMW Z4, Mercedes-Benz SLK, and Porsche Boxter.
Dealers have seen the models of the XJ and have no comments but praises for the redesigned vehicle. The XJ is expected to head the Jaguar range in its thrust to regain footing on the upper end of the market.
There are also callings for the production of vehicles that can compete with the 3 Series of BMW. Jaguar’s X Type was the volume car but the company has stopped production last December of 2007.
Without the X Type, the Jaguar sales figures are down by 3%. They only sold 12575 units through this year compared to 2003 figures of over 46K units sold through October.
Jaguar E-Type: A True Automotive Legend
There are few car aficionados in the world who do not know about the Jaguar E-Type cars. In fact even most sports enthusiasts who love car racing know about this particular car from the stables of Jaguar. Manufactured between 1971 and 1974, the Jaguar E-Type is one of the most admired sports cars of the 1960’s. 500hp 2010 Jaguar XFR revealed at Detroit Auto Show
The 500hp Jaguar XFR, which was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show, is the fastest Jaguar to date at 225mph beating XJ220 which reached 217 mph in 1992. Paul Gentilozzi, owner of Rockersports Racing, broke the XJ220 record at the Jaguar XFR test drive in Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
Jag’s new baby boasts of a new supercharged AJ-V8 Gen III engine, which pumps 460-lb-ft of torque, delivers two power outputs—379-hp naturally emitted and 503-hp supercharged. The new V8 was described by Jag “as its most technologically-advanced petrol engine ever.” Accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, the XFR is the topmost model of the XF range, explicitly engineered to compete with the speed demons like the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG.

With minor aerodynamic and safety alterations to fit the Bonneville run, the XFR’s top speed was reached with added horsepower, remapped engine control unit, modified air intakes and exhaust, and an adjusted supercharger. The six-speed automatic transmission, gear ratios, and internal engine components were untouched.
The XFR beams with a deeper front spoiler, heavier chrome front grille, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, new aluminum wheels, and a lower stance. The cylinder head bolts and bracket are retained from the former 4.2-liter V8.
The old 4.2 liter with its 300hp offers a V8 alternative to V6s competitors, thus it will stay in production. The XF U.S. line-up will still offer the S-V8 with the new 500-hp engine. The supercharged XFR will hit the United States this coming spring.

Jaguar Sales Propelled by 8% in 2008
Around June last year, Tata Motors, an Indian automobile company, bought Jaguar Cards Ltd. Since then, Jaguar has ceased to report their sales figure. Yet, they surprised the automobile industry when they reported an eight percent increase in their sales last year.
During the Detroit Auto Show, Mike O’Driscoll, Managing Director for Jaguar reported that they had sold 65,000 vehicles in 2008 alone. However, the bulk of sales in the United States plummeted to four percent, making only 15,500 in sales.
According to Gary Temple, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America, they are assuming that the demands of Jaguar will be low this year. The sales in the United States suffered a crushing 18.0 percent decrease in 2008. Industry forecasters predict further blows this 2009.
When Jaguar was still owned by Ford Motor Co. the car company reached 61,204 in sales. Six years later, the Jaguar sales in the United States dropped by almost seventy-five percent. The United States used to be Jaguar’s biggest market but due to the economic crunch, the United Kingdom has replaced the U.S. as Jaguar’s gold mine.
According to O’Driscoll, the $50,000 XF sedan helped give Jaguar a push for the rest of 2008 when it was launched earlier last year in different markets. This March, Jaguar will launch its high-performance XFR sedan and XKR coupe, two additional Jaguars in the car company line-up. Nothing has been announced or speculated about the new Jaguar 2010 models. We all have to wait and see.

The standard XKR is limited only to top the gauges at 155 mph. The fuel economy considerations is also good at 23mpg with carbon dioxide rating of 292g/km.
The XKR at Goodwood will also be loud with the custom made exhaust, have a lower ride height, and big 21 inch rims.
Aside from the XKR, the festival will also be graced by Jaguars fastest car, the prototype of XFR, that is capable of zooming to 225.675mph.
The Jaguar classics are also set to wow crowds during the event. The team will be bringing in the C-type and the D-type. Jaguar is also sendin the XJ13 which was used as an endurance racer during the 1960’s.
Tata Motors reveals that all vehicle models that we will be seeing in the future from Land Rover and Jaguar will use aluminum for their bodies. Jaguar has been using the technology for some of the members of their fleet and has acknowledged the aerodynamic and weight advantages of the approach.
The move will make Land Rover and Jaguar units a lot lighter and will enjoy fuel efficiency and mileage because of the change. Tata Motors which owns the two brands confirmed the move in the annual report of the company.
Tata makes the move following the negative performance of the tag team brands in 2008 which translates to a $1.1 billion loss. The lack of profit is blamed on the high cost of developing new models amid the global economic crisis. The other factors cited were the high expenses during production and the low demand of the market for luxury vehicles.

The use of aluminum for the panels of the new vehicle will actually mean higher cost of production. The company though is hoping that the efficiency gains will overshadow the cost. They are hoping to convince the buying public which has been clinging for greener rides.
The XK and XJ models of the Jaguar already use aluminum with its design – but it is new to the Land Rover Cars. The use of the material will allow designers to improve on the aerodynamics, performance, and safety of the future cars. Aluminum will also allow for the construction of a car body will lesser joints and parts which ultimately leads to a stiffer design.
